Salary Range by qualification level:
Teacher Interim $11.24 - $15.83/hr.
Teacher I $12.38 - $17.45/hr.
Teacher II $13.02 - $18.32/hr.

Position Summary:
Provides care and education for infants/toddlers and their families in an
Early Head Start or Migrant & Seasonal Early Head Start Center. Assists
the Center Supervisor with the implementation of the Early Head Start
Program in an assigned center and classroom. Supervises Caregiver
Assistants and other staff per Center Supervisor.

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements:
12 units ECE/CD (1) (4)
3 units infant/toddler development
6 months related teaching experience (3)
Associate Teacher Permit or ECCP (5)(6)

(1) Units in ECE/CD include course work in early childhood
education/child development and at least one course in each of the following core areas 1) child/human growth and development 2) Child, family and community, or child and family relations; 3) programs/curriculum. Must have received passing grade of ’C’ or better
or credit.
(3) General Education Units include sixteen diversified semester units in general education (i.e., at least one course in each of the following areas: Humanities and/or Fine Arts, Social Sciences, Math and/or Science and English/Language Arts.
(4) Experience must be in a licensed day care center, comparable home day care or group child care program for children ages 0 - 5 under the supervision of a person who would qualify as a Center Supervisor.
College internships and labs served in a licensed day care center will count as experience.
(4) For infant/toddler center(s), 3 units in infant/toddler development and/or programs must be included as part of the course work requirement for all of the above.
(5) Must hold appropriate Children’s Center Permit or qualify for an appropriate Children’s Center Permit prior to beginning employment and apply within 30 days of commencing employment.
(6) Must meet Child Development Teacher Permit requirements within ten
years.

AQUATIC INSTRUCTOR II

Kernes Pool Aquatic Instructors assist children and adults with physical, emotional or developmental challenges to swim and exercise in an indoor warm-water pool. This job requires the ability to relate well with people of all ages and capabilities, and to be in the water for prolonged periods of time.

Aquatic Instructors are responsible for assisting clients in the pool. Activities include implementation, instruction, and documentation of clients’ exercise programs; life-guarding and crisis intervention; monitoring client safety; and basic daily pool maintenance. If you like working with people, enjoy swimming and being in the water, and are interested in outstanding job satisfaction while enriching the quality of life for others, this job is ideal.

This is currently a part-time opening requiring flexibility in work shift assignments. Starting pay depends on certifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide individual instruction for clients in approved aquatic exercise programs.
Assess clients’ specific needs as part of the evaluation and implementation of their aquatic exercise program.
Record and report assessment findings to Aquatic Coordinator.
Maintain daily client attendance records.
Provide life-guarding and crisis-intervention in the pool
Monitor client safety in the pool and dressing room areas.
Perform daily pool maintenance, including sweeping the pool and monitoring pool chemicals
Perform daily facility maintenance, including opening and closing duties, laundry, and cleaning pool deck and dressing room areas as needed.

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Red Cross First Aid and Safety Certificate
CPR Certificate
Lifeguard Certification

PHYSICAL AND SPECIAL JOB CONDITIONS:

Involves physical demands including assisting clients with ambulation, pushing wheelchairs, operating pool lift, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching overhead, and being in the water for several hours per day.
