Digital-Analog Design Engineer

We currently have an opening for a regular, full-time DIGITAL ANALOG ENGINEER based in our Corporate Headquarters in Monterey, California.

Basic Purpose: Design microprocessor-based circuits and associated analog circuitry for use in control systems and instrumentation. Responsibilities include taking designs from concept through to production, including all necessary documentation and support information. The Engineer will interface with other groups within the Company as required to complete design projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

70% Design, test, and verify electronic designs for new products

1. Design microprocessor based control circuits.

2. Design analog interfaces.

3. Provide all required firmware.

4. Provide all required documentation for production.

5. Support design of test fixtures for new products.

6. Support finding solutions to any production issues.


20% Update existing designs as required to fix issues or prolong useful life

1. Work with manufacturing to resolve production issues.

2. Evaluate current designs to find cost effective solutions to production issues.

3. Evaluate change requests to determine feasibility.


10% Assist in conceptual design of future products

1. Provide feedback on problems encountered with earlier designs.

2. Assist in the research and testing of new concepts and hardware.


Education and Work Experience:

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. Five years of experience in microprocessor-based circuits design including generation of firmware. Experience using programmable logic arrays. General analog circuit design skills a must. Basic knowledge of power supply design desirable. Assembly and C programming skills required. Visual Basic programming skills a plus.



Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Good knowledge of basic analog and digital design principles along with experience in minimizing power consumption for battery powered circuits. Good communication skills and ability to generate clearly understood technical documentation. Good mechanical design aptitude a plus.

Equipment Applications:

Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software. Familiarity with PADS Logic schematic capture software a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

General office and electronics lab environment. Some travel required. No special physical demands.

To implement and manage Safety, Industrial Health, Environmental and Security services, programs and initiatives for employees at an assigned facility or facilities. Provide Safety, Industrial Health, Environmental and Security consultation, advice, and leadership support to a facility. Ensure Safety, Industrial Health ,Environmental and Security objectives are met and deployments are leveraged effectively and consistently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide consultation and services to plant leadership regarding Safety, Industrial Health, Environmental, and Security concerns, operations, and compliance issues
· Communicate goals and objectives of Safety Management System
· Coordinate activities of Site Central Safety Committee
· Implement Safety, Industrial Health, Environmental and Security policies and procedures
· Review and analyze the effectiveness of current programs; recommend improvements to policies and procedures. Research and create program recommendations for assigned area of safety, industrial health, and fire prevention
· Develop, coordinate, and facilitate education and training on Safety, Industrial Health, Environmental and Security issues at the plant

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Basic knowledge of Federal, State and local industrial health, safety, and environmental rules, regulations, and related strategies

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Office and Plant environment that may be subject to extreme temperatures with exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:
To perform duties of this job the employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee will walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
